Making the transition from peer to supervisor is one of the most challenging shifts in any professional's career. Buddy to Boss is designed to equip new and aspiring leaders with the tools, confidence, and mindset needed to navigate this change effectively. Participants will explore strategies for setting boundaries, building credibility, managing former peers, and establishing their leadership style - all while maintaining healthy workplace relationships. Whether you're stepping into a leadership role for the first time or seeking to refine your management approach, this workshop offers practical insights to help you lead with clarity and confidence.

As a result of this workshop, participants will be equipped to:

Identify common pitfalls for new supervisors—and how to avoid them
Understand the challenges and dynamics of transitioning from peer to supervisor
Learn how to set clear boundaries while maintaining respectful relationships
Gain tools for managing former peers with fairness and professionalism
Explore techniques for giving constructive feedback and handling difficult conversations

About the Facilitator

Brad Coy is the Assistant Fire Chief of the Greenwood (IN) Fire Department. He received his master’s in organizational leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University and his B.A. in Biology, with an emphasis in Athletic Training from Franklin College. Brad is in his 30^th year as a public servant, serving more than 25 years with the Greenwood Fire Department. He has been awarded many honors with the fire service including the 2016 Van Valer Service Award for Outstanding Service to the Community. He is a proud graduate of Leadership Johnson County (Class of 2010) and has been a member and Past President of the LJC Board of Trustees.

Aspire's new corporate pickleball event is designed to bring together Aspire members for friendly competition, networking, and wellness! Pickleball is a sport that appeals to all ages and skill levels, and our Corporate Pickleball Tournament will provide both an informal setting for novice participants to learn and connect along with a session for seasoned players to compete.

Early Bird registration through September 5, 2025 is $40 per player, $80 per team. After September 5^th, player registration increases to $50 per player, $100 per team. Your registration includes a T-Shirt, Swag bag with visor, ball, and items from sponsors, a lunch ticket, and a ticket for a pint of beer.

*All pickleball sponsorships and registrations will be held on a first-paid basis!

*All personal property placed in and around the event space at Freedom Park, including, but not limited to motor vehicles on the premises, shall be placed at the risk of the owners of said property.

Aspire Corporate Pickleball Tournament Weather Policy

The Aspire Pickleball Tournament is a fundraising event supporting Aspire’s mission to drive economic development and business success in our community. Participant safety is our top priority, while also fostering business connections, team building, and promotion.

If inclement weather is anticipated, match formats may be shortened (e.g., first to 7 points, fewer games) to complete play before conditions worsen.

Play will be suspended if conditions are unsafe (e.g., lightning, dangerously wet courts) and will not resume until courts are safe. If courts cannot be restored in a timely manner, the tournament will be concluded. Results will be determined in good faith based on completed matches, including round robin play.

If the tournament is cancelled before play begins, it may be rescheduled or cancelled. Companies may substitute players or representatives if rescheduled. No refunds will be issued if the event is shortened or canceled due to weather.

Weather-related updates, delays, or rescheduling announcements will be promptly shared with team captains and sponsors via email. Aspire reserves the right to interpret this policy; all decisions are final.

Welcome to An Evening with The Murder Sheet- Live!

Join us for a compelling evening with Áine Cain and Kevin Greenlee, investigative journalists, authors, and hosts of The Murder Sheet podcast, as they discuss their new book, Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland. Participants will learn about the multifaceted details of the story of best friends Abigail Williams and Liberty German and the community’s fight for justice. This program will explore the case through the lens of ethics, compassion, and first-hand accounts of the investigative aspects. This program offers a unique opportunity to hear from the authors about their investigation, the importance of ethical true crime reporting, and the extensive effects of how this case transformed a community in the heart of Indiana.

The evening will include a live recording of The Murder Sheet podcast which will include a book
discussion and questions from the audience. After the program, participants can meet the authors and have their book signed.
