Beyond the Bias: Proving Expertise in External Spaces

Have you ever had to prove your expertise twice as hard once you stepped outside your organization? Join Aspire for the first session in our 2026 Women In Leadership Development (W.I.L.D.) series to learn strategies to help overcome these obstacles!

Beyond the Bias: Proving Expertise in External Spaces explores how unconscious bias, assumptions, and external perceptions can shape professional interactions with clients, partners, vendors, and industry leaders. Designed as a space for reflection, learning, and empowerment, this session will equip participants with practical strategies to confidently demonstrate expertise, build authority, and lead with impact in external-facing environments.

Participants will gain insight into:

Recognizing and navigating bias in external professional settings
Strengthening presence, confidence, and credibility
Communicating expertise effectively in high-visibility situations
Advocating authentically for themselves and others

To make the afternoon even more memorable, we'll conclude with an interactive wine tasting lesson led by a sommelier - perfect for networking and and learning something new in a relaxed setting.

Vendor fees and donations will support two incredible nonprofits:?The Refuge – They operate food pantries and outreach programs that make a real difference in Johnson County.?Resources of Hope – Serves foster children who often enter care with only the clothes on their backs.
