Last week, our board members Susan Crisafulli and Bronwen Carlisle, MA/MLS attended the Glitter & Gratitude Gala hosted by Beau Jackson, Zach DeWitt, and their Leadership Johnson County ‘24 team. The Gala celebrated the efforts of nonprofit leaders in Johnson County by offering delicious food and drinks, great music, a motivational speaker, fun dancing, and even amazing prizes. What a wonderful event!

A nonprofit org. that runs Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a free book program for children, in Johnson County, IN
About us
The Imagination Library began in 1995 in Tennessee, when Dolly Parton wanted to “stimulate children’s imaginations and encourage reading within the family at an early age.” She provided one book a month to children from birth to age 5, for a total of 60 free books by the time they entered kindergarten. In 1999, she began offering the books nationwide and even internationally by inviting communities to set up affiliate programs. Now, over 2,000 local affiliate organizations, like ours, not only help enroll children in their respective communities, but also raise money to cover the cost of the books. The free books are mailed to children each month, and our program serves children in Johnson County, Indiana.

Our founder and board president, Susan Crisafulli, recently drove through Dolly Parton’s hometown of Sevierville, so she stopped by to say thank you for all that Dolly has done for Johnson County’s children! #dolly #thankyou #books #literacy

Skylar recently received The Little Engine That Could in the mail and gives it a smile and a big thumbs up! Did you know? Dolly Parton chose to make this book the first one each child receives since it is her personal favorite! She said, “My memories take me way back to a little cabin in East Tennessee. This was not a place where dreams easily came true. Too often, there was talk about all of the things we couldn’t do rather than all of the things we could do. On many occasions, when my dream seemed far away, my Mama would tell me the story of the Little Engine to comfort and encourage me. While I listened to her, I would close my eyes and think of myself as the Little Engine and just start saying over and over again, ‘I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.’ It gave me strength, it gave me hope, and it gave me the courage to keep chasing my dreams.” Our mission is to get as many books into the hands of as many children as possible so that they can also have the courage to keep chasing their dreams. ❤️

What a wonderful day! Happy 6th birthday to us! 🎉🎊🎈 When we opened registration in 2017, we had around 300 children sign up the first month. We love that we now have 3,560 children who receive a free book in the mail every month and have had 1,958 children “graduate” from our program. Help us celebrate by purchasing an Imagination Library t-shirt from Love More! The full cost of each shirt goes directly to putting books in the hands of Johnson County children. https://lnkd.in/gnUn5xyH 50 Love More shirts would put books in the hands of another 40 kids! ❤️📚👶
